HAND COUNTY SOUTH DAKOTA is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Highway Superintendent. This position is open to internal promotion as well as applicants from outside the department.
The Assistant Highway Superintendent position is full-time with benefits including state retirement.
The highway department is also seeking applicants for the position of highway maintenance worker which is also a full-time position with benefits including state retirement.
Applicants must have or be able to get a Class A commercial driver’s license. The county will provide the training to obtain the commercial driver’s license.
Current work schedule is four-ten-hour days.
Wages for both positions are established by the Hand County Board of County Commissioners.

HAND COUNTY SOUTH DAKOTA is seeking to identify volunteers who would be willing to sit on the Selective Service “local board”. “A Selective Service local board is a group of citizen volunteers whose mission, during a draft, would be to decide who among the registrants in their community would receive deferments, postponements, or exemption from military service based on the individual registrant’s circumstances and beliefs.”
Interested volunteers must be at least 18 years old, be a citizen of the USA, have registered with Selective Service, can not be in law enforcement of the judiciary, cannot be an active or retired career member of the Armed Forces or Reserves or National Guard, and free of conviction of any criminal offense.
